Walk by the Spirit…

Could you help me out? Please define the above term off the top of your head – no Bible study or looking up verses, just a quick definition you would give to a 8-12 year old. What does it mean to “Walk by the Spirit”?

Put your answer in the comments section…thanks.

  1. I would say that walking by the Spirit is living each day paying attention to your heart.. when you are tempted to do something you are not supposed to do, or when you are supposed to do something, and you are tempted not to do it, pay attention to the little nudgings in your heart. That is the Spirit leading and guiding you. One who believes on the Lord Jesus as their Saviour will always be led by the Spirit.

  2. First thing that comes to mind is that you have to know the spirit to walk by the spirit. A relationship has to be established.

Second thing that hits me is that I play an active role in walking by the Spirit. I pursue this relationship with the Holy Spirit.

When you are in relationship with someone and want to keep the relationship strong, you build it, nurture it, seek it – like a lover you begin to know what the other likes or dislikes and you want to please them. You thirst for them.

  4. Walking in the Spirit, is seeing people through the Spirit’s eyes of love. The only way you can do this is by knowing Him.

Walking in the Spirit is loving and offering grace to all, even those who don’t deserve it!
It is being a container that pours out love, not because you have too….but because this is the overflow of your very being.

Walking in the Spirit becomes the “at peace” life that you live, even though “peaceful” may not be a definition of your life
